JOSEP MARIA COLOM
Since his debut at the "Théâtre des Champs Elysées" in Paris, and being awarded prizes in the international competitions of Jaén, Épinal and Santander among others, he has been considered one of the most important performers in Spain, both by the public and by the critic. This has been corroborated by the award of the National Music Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture in 1998. His versatility is evident in the repertoire of his programs, in which he has offered his ever very personal versions of composers from all eras, from the Baroque period to the present day. This reflects in his recordings, which range from Blasco de Nebra to Falla, Mompou or Guinjoan, from Bach to Prokofiev, clearly aiming in his latest recordings at breaking stylistic frontiers and academic topics: see his recent CDs released by the label Eudora.
Despite self-acknowledging his introspective character and his preference for the most intimate world of recital and chamber music, he has played with countless orchestras and conductors from all over the world, always with great success and receiving very good reviews. Parallel to his career as a soloist, Colom has found the time for pedagogy, which he recognizes as an increasing strong inclination.
Quoting his words:
"Making music is a great privilege and I thank all the people who attend my concerts for sharing what, for me, is a daily miracle." JC
