Cuarteto Quiroga

"Exquisite, precise, perfectly balanced. Interpretatively fresh performances couched in consistently warm hues." The New York Times.

"A beautiful sound and an immaculate technique." The Strad.

The Quiroga Quartet, whose name pays tribute to the great Galician violinist Manuel Quiroga, has its official residence throughout the year at Madrid’s Cerralbo Museum, and, since 2014, they are in charge of the Palatine Collection of Stradivarius at the Royal Palace in Madrid.

Considered one of the most outstanding chamber music ensembles of the new European generation, the ensemble is internationally acclaimed by critics and audience for their audacious and renovating performances.

Prize-winner of several major international competitions (Bordeaux, Paolo Borciani, Geneva, Beijing, Paris, etc.), and distinctions (RNE Critical Eye Award and Palau de Barcelona Gold Medal), the Quiroga Quartet appears regularly worldwide: Berlin, New York, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Stockholm, Rome, Prague, Salzburg, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, etc.

Frequent stage partners include Martha Argerich, Veronika Hagen, Valentin Erben, Javier Perianes and Richard Lester.

Their growing discography –three CDs released by the Dutch label Cobra Records (Statements, (R)evolutions and Frei Aber Einsam) and their recent collaboration with Javier Perianes for Harmonia Mundi– has been acclaimed by the international press and awarded several prizes and distinctions, and their concerts are recorded and broadcast by the most important radio stations in Europe and America.

Strongly committed to chamber music teaching, they hold the String Quartet Chair at Zaragoza’s Conservatorio Superior (CSMA), and they are regularly invited to give masterclasses at universities in Spain and abroad.

Cibrán Sierra and the other members of the quartet wish to express their gratitude to the heirs of Paola Modiano for their generous cession of the violin Nicola Amati "Arnold Rosé" of 1682.
